He was very excited, and he dashed through the kitchen and opened the door to the sundeck and stepped outside. I got up from my computer and followed him outside onto the sundeck and looked up into the night sky.

There was a fleet of flying craft of some kind up there, bright orange in color. They looked like a squadron of planes flying together as if they were in some kind of air show. They followed each other, but not in a single line, but rather in a staggered formation, flying at the same speed together. But it was 10:45 p.m. on a Saturday night, and there wasn't any occasion calling for an air show. I was amazed. I thought they must be American aircraft of some sort, and I stood there next to my room-mate looking up at them in puzzled wonderment.

They were totally silent as they flew; no sound of engines or jet noises or anything. Totally silent. And they were pretty darn close to us, too. Not way far up there like distant stars or satellites, more like aircraft simply flying overhead. But they were bright orange in color. No flickering lights, no on and off lights; each one was identical to the others; they were each bright orange flying craft of some kind.

They came from the direction of Port Angeles, Washington. They came from the southwest and were flying almost directly overhead of us, here in the Victoria West area of Victoria, BC. They were headed northeast. There were 7 or 8 of them up in the sky that I could see at the same time, but that's not counting the ones that my room-mate had already seen fly over before he came into the house to tell me about it.

As I watched, more kept coming. All together I must have seen between 12 and 15 of them. I'm very skeptical of jumping to the conclusion that they were UFO's from outer space, but honestly, I've never seen aircraft that were bright orange like that. I mean the entire craft was orange; not just an orange light on it somewhere. And totally silent. And such a large squadron of them all at once.

After the last of them had flown over, I went back inside and immediately went online to try to see if anyone else was seeing these things flying over the city. But I couldn't find anything at all. Then I went and turned on the 11 o'clock news, and switched around the different news channels hoping to find something on there about these flying craft in the sky. But nothing. I kept going back outside onto my sundeck to see if there were any more of them, but they were gone. I have no idea what they were, and I wish I knew. Were they military craft of some kind? American or Canadian? Is there any way I can find out what they were, or if anyone else saw them in the sky on Saturday night?

The singer may have paid more than 51 million to the Russian Federal Space Agency for a seat on a spacecraft bound for the International Space Station, according to ABC News.

Space Adventures, the Virginia-based firm reportedly brokering the deal, has not confirmed that Brightman will be flying in space. However, company officials said Brightman would make a "groundbreaking announcement" during a press conference in Moscow Oct. 10 at 4 p.m. Moscow time (8 a.m. EDT).

Space Adventures has arranged the trips of the seven other space tourists who've flown to the space station on Russian Soyuz spacecraft.

Brightman, who gained fame starring in the original Broadway production of "Phantom of the Opera," will reportedly make her 10-day trip to low-Earth orbit in 2014 or 2015, according to ABC News.

With NASA's space shuttles now retired, Russian Soyuz spacecraft are the only vehicles currently able to carry people to the space station. As a result, open seats available for tourists have been scarce in recent years.

Lesley For Grey Matters Money In The Sky Part 2 The Pointless Point

Lesley (Debris Field blog, and Beyond the Dial in UFO magazine) has a good piece for her Grey Matters column for BoA: Money in the Sky (Part 2) : The Pointless Point. Lesley writes about the "they're only in it for the money" line many scofftoids (and some UFO people, sadly) use to dismiss people who write about UFOs and happen to make money.

"Make money;" it doesn't matter how much money, if that "making money" is a few dollars here and there or enough to make ones living from. The latter is rare, I suspect. I write like the hepped up caffeine junkie I am about UFOs and related phenomena, but so far, I haven't made a cent. So what? When the day comes that I do make "some money" I'll be happy of course, but I'm happy now too. The point is, as Lesley writes, is that there is nothing wrong with "making money" from writing about these topics. However, there are plenty of the "UFOlogy Police" (as Lesley calls them) who spend their time attacking those who "make money' or who they suspect "make money" from their UFO books, videos, and lectures.

Another comment Lesley makes is about humor. Lesley discusses UFO experiencer, writer and filmmaker Jeremy Vaeni -- one of the accused "money makers" -- and how some have added the sin of having a sense of humor to his crime of money making. I've been attacked for my sense of humor as well; in fact, I believe that those who've gone after me with such psychotic vengeance is the fact that UFO pundits aren't supposed to crack wise. And women especially aren't supposed to be so damn cheeky.

I don't know Jeremy personally, never having met him, but we've corresponded quite a bit, including an interview he did of me for UFO Magazine (Grilling Regan Lee) and I've always been impressed with his humor. He comes across as quirky, sure, but quirky is good, and there isn't enough of it. More importantly (for we all can't be quirky; you either are or you're not) he is his own damn self. He's not afraid to be who he is, doesn't pretend to be anything other than himself. That's all anyone can expect in this arena: honesty.

As to "making money," I doubt Vaeni is going to be moving to that villa in Tuscany any time soon.

This whole idea that "making money" from one's UFO passion - and that it somehow proves the individual is lying -- is ridiculous.

I loved Lesley's comment regarding this faux moral concern:

"What is Ufology? The Priesthood? You must give up all your worldly good and take a vow of poverty? Maybe you also need to promise to only bath once a year and crawl around your house through broken glass? Ridiculous!"

There are those -- way too many -- who have blogs and websites that write incessantly about how people who write about UFOs are wasting time. Apparently we;re wasting their time, our time, everyone's time. The irony escapes them: that they're wasting time telling everyone else how much time we're wasting. But they also can't resist reading the material they judge to be crap. Rather than ignoring such "crap" and doing something productive, they attack, often going so far as to lie about the people they're attacking. They harp on the "truth" and decide that they're the ones able to judge. They insist material such as abduction accounts be classified as fiction, instead of nonfiction. True, there's no ultimate "proof" of these encounters, which is a whole other topic, but here's something Lesley said about this that I think is very important:

"I hate to sound all anarchist, but why should we be so concerned about whether something is true? If we find the story thought provoking, does it really matter if it is true? There are certain fiction books that have influenced my entire life, not because they were true, but because the values I learned from them are true and because they caused me to think about things that are beyond my ordinary daily life. I am not really terribly concerned about what Jeremy or anyone else says being completely true or accurate, I am more concerned about whether it is interesting and whether I can learn anything from it. Since I look at almost all Ufology as being subjective, none of it is really true. If dozens of people had the same esoteric experience, the chances that most would interpret it differently is highly likely. Even if they all agree that they saw the same thing, many will take different meanings from what they saw. This is not only true of esoteric events, ask any policeman about robbery witnesses. One person will swear it was a blue shirt the guy was wearing, while another insists that is was green. Both of these people will be completely sure they are right and the other is wrong. Human minds interpret things differently, that is just how it is."

And it all gets down to this: for those that find some sort of twisted joy in attacking UFO and Fortean writers, Lesley suggests the following:

"Besides which, if they are so sure that they know the truth, then they should spread it, instead of spending their time sitting at their keyboard constantly griping about what others are doing."

On Monday August 29th at 1210 am I left my residence on my bicycle and headed towards the bridge and Downtown. As I approached the crest of the hill I spotted a large red fireball hovering above the river ( also near a National Guard base interestingly enough). At first I figured that it was a cell tower, but reason told me that I been on this road a hundred times at night and there are no cell towers that close and bright. Desending down the hill I crossed the bridge and I sincerely felt the object was aware it had been spotted and began to maneuver across my path approximately 200 to 500 ft away, it was difficult to judge the distance because of the darkness around. I than noticed the large red fireball was in fact three red fireballs that pulsated in a triangular pattern. The object hovered ahead over the trees I lost sight of the object twice before losing it at the buildings downtown. The object was completely silent all that could be heard was my heavy breathing as I attempted to chase this object on my Beachcruiser. I had no fear whatsoever if anything I felt as though it was going to be there. In otherwords I wasn't surprised at all. As I pursued the object I was either lost in concentration or excitement with a hint of shock. When I reached my destination I told my fianc? about the incident. We drove home without further incident while she related to me her disappointment for not being present to witness the event. Ironically enough she was fortunate enough to see the object again the next night at around the same time. I will file a seperate report for that sighting. Thank You

I was on my home from 24 Hour Fitness off Cooper street and took interstate 20 home, as I was approaching the exit I noticed a bright white light in the sky but it looked kind of low and I just assumed it was an airplane. I really did not think anything of it until I observed this light then immediatley turn red, then green and blue. 1st sighting: My father had called me outside to see something "strange" and that's when I noticed a craft that had a blinking red light that would blink consecutively and it appeared to go from one point in the sky to another far off point really fast and that's when i noticed that this was not a craft ive seen before. 2nd sighting: I had went inside again to get something and my father had told my sister about what he had seen. She went outside and he immediately followed minutes later I decided to go back outside as well. We were looking up at the sky and that's when we saw the red blinking lights again coming from a different direction and again this craft emitted no sound which was odd for a craft of this size. My sister and I in a futile attempt to get close to it decided to chase after this craft.. that's when we got a closer look at it and noticed that this craft was not an airplane or a helicopter. It was triangular in shape and had 3 lights in the back and a red blinking light in the center. AS we chased it we noticed that it did not make a sound and that it just glided in the air like a kite. Then we saw it turn abruptly as if it was going to go back around but at that precise moment it disappeared behind a house in our neighborhood.

At 2040 hours local mountain time. I looked up and saw two very bright objects almost directly overhead. They appeared very star-like in their color and luminositiy. Around 80 degree above the horizon. They were traveling south by southwest. They were moving at the same speed. Just slightly faster than the speed a satellite will track across the sky. The brightest one was the most southern one. Their distance was (fully extend your arm above you, give the peace sign, the distance from index to middle finger was the distance seperating these objects). The flight charcteristcs were very similar to watching the ISS fly over. But I have never seen saltellites travel in a pair before, on the same trajectory and speed. In perfect formation. These lights were visible for around a minute and a half. I started my visual track when they were already almost directly overhead. Weird huh. If you have multiple witnesses or know what this is, please let me know.
