- 20% of voters believe there is a link between childhood vaccines and autism, 51% do not

- 7% of voters think the moon landing was faked

We kept looking at it as it was really getting bigger and bigger and we were all freaking out, but at some point the road turns and there was a lot of tree cover so we could not see it. Then at a small turn in the road, there stopped in the middle of the road were the electricians, their truck stopped in the middle of the road and they were out of their truck standing in the middle of the road looking up. We stopped and got out and there above us was this unbelievable enormous ship hovering quietly right at the tree line. The circumference was different colored lights that changed color, but not in a pattern, they just changed colors, pinky orangey bluey, yellowy. We huddled together gazing up for about 5 minutes. and the in a second it pulled away, without a sound and incredibly fast. The electricians told us their truck had stopped. When it was gone, the truck started again. We got to the hotel, told everyone else on the crew - they just thought we were nuts. But it was in the paper the next morning as a crowd in the parking lot of the local supermarket had also seen it. I still talk occasionally a few of my fellow witnesses and we are still freaked out, because it was so completely unmistakably huge, so close and so real. I have told other people in my life and I am afraid it really has had deleterious effect on my credibility. She lived on the second level, the stairs to get to the second level were on the outside of the house on the east side. My mom was in her bedroom, the west end of the house. I was in the living room with my brother at the east end by the entrance to the house. He asked me if I wanted to smoke a cigarette, I said no and he went outside. About 30 seconds later he came rushing back into the house yelling at us to go outside. My mom came walking up from the back room and I jumped up from the couch and followed him outside. He pointed up in the sky to the north and said Look!. I saw searchlights. The weirdest thing about the searchlights was that they were low laying, other than being in the sky. The "Main" searchlight, which my brother was pointing to was fixed and not moving. There was a second searchlight more east, to the right of us, that was "scanning" left to right. What I asked, I really didnt notice anything. There! "Just then I recognized this massive object gliding straight for us. The searchlight was fixed right on it and just then I realized the lights were from the Saint Paul Airport. What I saw was this massive black triangle. It was as big as the entire block. There were lights fixed on the black mass, Orbs that glowed and changed colors, but more appeared to be multiple colors at the same time. This was more reminiscent of the Phoenix Lights than the Belgium Lights. The only thing that was different than the Phoenix Lights was that all these lights were connected or attached by this large blackness. When the UFO was passing and the Searchlight was fixed on it, you could not see what the blackness was. You could notice the beam of light as it passed under it but when the light hit it all you could see was just black, black like the night sky behind it. "The sky was clear and stars were as noticeable as they could be for being in the city. I really don't have memory of the UFO being directly over head but I know for a fact it was. I remember turning to watch it pass us, and head south/southwest towards MPLS airport/Bloomington. We were leaning over the edge of the railing, as it got more out of view. At the same time we all stopped and looked at each other in sheer amazement, and looked back to the craft and it was completely gone. There was no way that it was out of our view by the time we looked back, it still should have been there but we could not see anything. My mom tried the cordless house phone which was in her hand the entire time but it was not working, about 5 minutes later the phone began working again. She called my grandpa, her dad, Whom happened to live right next door. He came outside and saw the searchlights and we told him what we just saw. about 2 minutes after then, we kept watching the sky and we noticed UH-60 BlackHawks, and some types of Fighter Jets scrambling in the area for the next 20 minutes. During the Duration of the UFO it was really strange. There were no sounds from any vehicles, the UFO made no sound, I could not hear anything except for us breathing. It was really weird not hearing any vehicles since there is a very busy street just 1 block south of our location. My brother and I stayed outside watching the searchlights as they continued to scan the sky, and the Jets circling over head. 1.5 to 2 hours pass and the searchlights remained on, after that time we just decided to go back inside. O relato mais antigo de morte ocorreu em 1947, diz Watson, e elementos desta hist'oria ainda n~ao foram explicados.

"Mortes relacionadas aos OVNIs v~ao desde quando Kenneth Arnold investigou um avistamento de uma 'esquadrilha' de OVNIs em junho de 1947 e ocorreu uma onda mundial de avistamentos de 'discos voadores'. O caso envolveu o avistamento de seis OVNIs em forma de rosca por Harold Dahl, que derrubaram material similar a esc'oria quente em seu barco, queimando seu braco e matando seu c~ao no processo. No outro dia, seu empregador, Fred Lee Crisman, visitou a Ilha Maury, onde encontrou toneladas de destrocos e viu outro OVNI na 'area. Kenneth Arnold foi chamado para investigar o avistamento e, sentindo que o caso era mais complicado, convidou dois agentes de Intelig^encia da Forca A'erea, o Capit~ao Davidson e o Tenente Brown, para ajud'a-lo a entrevistar as testemunhas. Eles n~ao ficaram impressionados com a validade do avistamento, mas levaram amostras dos destrocos para an'alise", diz Watson.

"Quando estavam retornando para sua base em Hamilton Field, na Calif'ornia, o motor esquerdo de sua aeronave B-25 pegou fogo e eles foram mortos quando a aeronave caiu pr'oxima de Kelso, estado de Washington. Um telefonema an^onimo feito para o jornal local, deu o nome das v'itimas antes do acidente ter sido tornado p'ublico e alegou que a aeronave foi abatida por um canh~ao de 20 mm, porque estava carregando fragmentos de um disco voador."

Quando Kenneth Arnold decolou de Tacoma, seu motor falhou e ele teve que fazer um pouso forcado. Ao averiguar seu avi~ao, ele descobriu que a v'alvula de combust'ivel tinha sido desligada. Paul Lance, um rep'orter para o Tacoma Times, que cobriu a hist'oria, morreu repentinamente duas semanas mais tarde de meningite.

"Hoje, os ovni'ologos acham que esta foi uma farsa elaborada que saiu do controle, e poderia ter sido instigada pela ag^encia de intelig^encia dos EUA para desacreditar o avistamento original de Kenneth Arnold".

Watson diz que se algu'em cavar fundo, as teorias ficam progressivamente mais estranhas.

"Al'em disso, de acordo com a teoria da conspirac~ao de OVNIs, a CIA matou o Presidente Kennedy porque ele queria compartilhar o segredo dos OVNIs com a Uni~ao Sovi'etica", diz Watson. "E mais, Marilyn Monroe foi alegadamente assassinada porque estava falando livremente sobre OVNIs. Na noite antes de sua morte, ela falou com a colunista celebridade de TV, Dorothy Kilgallen, sobre o acidente de Roswell em 1947. Kilgallen subsequentemente morreu sob circunst^ancias misteriosas em 8 de novembro de 1965. Isto mostra como estas v'arias mortes podem estar interligadas, apoiando a ideia de que a verdade sobre os OVNIs e visitac~oes alien'igenas est'a sendo suprimida e tornada desacreditada", diz Watson.

Apesar dos rumores permanecerem como um 't'opico quente' constante dentro da comunidade de pesquisadores de OVNIs, Watson diz que "muitas destas hist'orias parecem estranhas e muitas destas mortes realmente possuem uma explicac~ao plaus'ivel. Assim, os casos n~ao v~ao muito al'em da comunidade de ovniol'ogica. As ag^encias governamentais poderiam estar fazendo isto, mas parece ser algo muito extremo assassinar pessoas, especialmente por sobre d'ecadas, quando h'a formas mais f'aceis de desacreditar os pesquisadores de OVNIs".
