To answer this question, we've just added a pre-festival talk by McMenamins Historian Tim Hills at Hotel Oregon at 7 p.m. This presentation will cover the famed story of the local Trent family UFO photos, taken nearby and sparking longtime worldwide interest in phenomena that occurred here.

Full Description of event/sighting: I work manage a large hotel here in Niagara Falls. It's 31 stories and 402 rooms. At approx: 10:30pm I was standing out front of the hotel with one of my security officers. I was looking left down the street and my officer was looking out over the Niagara river. My officer then said to me, either someone just went in the river and they are looking for him or that's a UFO out there. I immediately looked out over the river to see a huge bright white light coming towards us down the river. I have seen many aircraft in this area over the falls and river but never a light this bright. It was traveling very fast right towards us. Before it came over the falls the bright light blinked out and was much dimmer now. I ran to the side street next to the hotel realizing that it was going to fly right above me. As it passed over me and I yelled to my security officer that it was triangle shaped, had white lights on the tip and two on the back. It was approximately 25 to 30 feet long. It also had a pulsing red light underneath.
It flew maybe 50 to 75 feet above the hotel to the left. It did not make a sound. The night was very clear at 10:30pm and there was no street noise where we are. The object was completely silent. It wasn't until the weekend that I found out there was a newspaper article in regards to the object on the same evening that we saw it. Full Description of event/sighting: Between 9:45 - 10:00pm Wed. April 9th a friend and myself were sitting in my living room watching TV. I live in a penthouse apt. in downtown Winnipeg. I had my balcony doors party open, it was getting a bit chilly so I got up to close them. I looked out towards the Apt. building that faces mine and out of no where I saw 4 bright lights in a triangle shaped pattern, moving very slowly. I yelled for my friend to come look, (I wasn't sure if I was possibly seeing things) because I was in total disbelieve to what I was witnessing. I asked her. "Do you see that" ? She said holy crap what is that. I said I don't know and we watched it move slowly over the other building and then it just shot off to the west and disappeared as fast as it appeared. Both of us were freaking out, we went back to the couch and were stunned in what we saw. I got back up went on to my balcony, thinking to myself, "did we just see what looked like a UFO"? I looked directly above me and there was a single star like object (bright like a star) moving back and forth hovering above my head. Once again I yelled to my friend and again she saw it and then with in seconds it shot straight across the sky west bound and disappeared.
We were both freaked out, and unsure what too do or if we should tell anyone, thinking our friends would think were nuts.
Thank you to the witness for the report, this is the first of two sightings. The first happening on April 9 and the second sighting took place on April 10, 2008.
